MARU is a Ukrainian band, formed and based in Kyiv.

MARU started in 2015 as a duo: jazz singer Olha Lukachova and double bass player Denys Dudko — a key member of Okean Elzy and leader of his own DENYS DUDKO Sextet.

Within a year the duo had grown into a six-piece, adding a guitarist, two drummers and a keyboardist. Every member is an established musician who also plays in one of Ukraine's leading bands — BoomBox, Okean Elzy and Volga:Funk — which makes MARU something of a supergroup. Their music combines rock and sophisticated pop with electronic elements and a touch of jazz.

MARU released their debut album, '1', in September 2017, and in February 2018 won Aprize, the award of Aristocrats Radio.

A year after the debut, in October 2018, came the second album, POMPIDOU — alternative pop with electronic elements, with the title running through the record as a leitmotif; the band jokingly call it 'the MARU museum of modern art'. Nine of its ten tracks are in Ukrainian and one is in English. The album was presented live in Kyiv in December 2018. MARU's shows are always built around a live performance with themed VJing, visuals and staging.

In March 2019 the band introduced a new vocalist and released a new record at the same time — this time an EP. The new voice of MARU is Khrystyna Khramova, a contestant on Ukraine's The Voice. The EP, Million Tones, holds three English-language songs and one track in Ukrainian.
